Every day as soon as I wake up, I have a thousand and one things to do on my mind. You would think the next day I would have about 998 of it to do. Yet, the next day I still have the same 1001 things to do. Why me? I wake up stressed and sleep stressed. Even crazier is how when the day is going on my list drops to 3 things to do and all 998 of the other things, I have completely forgotten what they were until I return back to bed.
However, thank God I came across a system that works when you actually do it. I learnt this system while listening to a podcast on time management. It goes like this; every time you remember something that needs to be done jot it down on cue cards that you walk around with. When you get home, dump it in a jar or a box. Set a day of the week where you pull out your agenda, go through all the cards and schedule everything that needs to be done. Voila! You don’t get to forget anything any longer. You are no longer stressed when you wake up. You now know you have everything under control.
When you have a long to do list bumping around in your head it actually drains you, disturbs you, and completely distracts you. You always feel like you have to rush through what you are doing in the present moment in order to get to the next task on the list. Yet, with this method you can now focus more on what you are doing in the moment and give it your 100%. It’s a very simple technique that really simplifies your life and make you a better person. This is the first step to focusing on what is important on the daily.
