4 Life-Hacks to Motivating Yourself

I need to get this done and that done but I am in no way motivated. I have no interest, strength, mind, and whatsoever reason we chose. Does this sound like you? It’s you and I both!

As a new graduate from University most of my life experiences revolves around my studies. University most definitely taught me how to motivate myself – a task that is very difficult. There were days that I woke up and said that I am done with this and there were days I woke up literally holding the many pieces of myself together and dragging it to school. 6 years of doing this and then finally obtaining 2 bachelor degrees, I think I can finally share a few life hacks on how to motivate your own self.

School and the battle of life combined can literally drive one mad, make you go bald and leave you with a bad memory because there is so much going on in your head. However, until you have reached the finish line you just cannot give up. Well… you can but we prefer not to after everything we have been through. We will need something to show for it. So how do you keep going?

As per businessdictionary.com, self-motivation is the “ability to do what needs to be done, without influence from other people or situations. People with self-motivation can find a reason and strength to complete a task, even when challenging, without giving up or needing another to encourage them.” That’s exactly what we need to keep going – self-motivation. It is one of the most important keys in life that you need to own. I read an article a while ago and self-motivation entails many skills in of itself. Not everybody has it, but everyone can work on developing it. Here are some skills you develop that were mentioned when you can motivate yourself in life.

1.Setting high but realistic goals 2. Seeking constant feedback to work out how to improve yourself 3. Being able to deal with setbacks and continue to pursue goals despite obstacles. 4. Actively seeking out opportunities and seizing them when they occur. 5. Being committed to personal or organizational goals and going the ‘extra mile’ to achieve them.

Let’s get to the life-hacks I have come up with to help with motivating ourselves. Honestly, if you follow these you will find yourself effortlessly becoming more motivated, empowered, and productive.

1. Remain positive.

Research has shown that happiness increases productivity and makes you more successful in life. Look at setbacks and failures as a learning experience.

2. Surround yourself with people who have the same dreams and goals.

Those are the people you can learn from. Those are the people that allow you to dream bigger. Those are the ones that helps you see the final goal. It is them that will actually encourage you to do whatsoever you are trying to do.

3. Start small and aim for progress.

I always say this one. It is one step at a time. You can even schedule weekly checkups with yourself and see how you are progressing, where you are going and how much closer you are to the destination.

4. Look at fear in the eye and boot laziness out of your way.

Fear just freezes us in life and laziness well makes us just sit there and be bums. The sooner you man handle them the quicker you will get promising results in life.
